Transform Your Life!

Transform students' test-taking fear to gain control over their learning and reduce anxiety.
  • POWER & PROMISE OF CLASS ASSESSMENT

When done well, classroom assessment can have a more significant positive impact on students' learning and achievement than any documented educational innovation. In this introduction, Dr. Anne Davies will describe the classroom assessment process and its decisive role in increasing students' capacity to engage in self-regulation and metacognition.
    MODULE 1
  • BASELINE EVIDENCE OF LEARNING

When teachers collect baseline evidence of learning, they find out what students know and understand, what they can do and what they can articulate. The information is the basis for designing the next steps for each student's learning. Limiting evidence of learning to tests and test scores is problematic today. As curriculum changes and learning is better understood, evidence of learning is being redefined. In this session, Dr. Davies’ will describe this change and its implications for student learning, self-regulation and metacognition.
    MODULE 2
  • QUALITY AND PROFICIENCY

Limiting evidence of learning to tests and test scores is problematic today. As curriculum changes and learning is better understood, evidence of learning is being redefined. In this session, Dr. Davies will describe how teaching practice is changing to help students better understand quality and proficiency. This change has significant implications for student learning, self-regulation, and metacognition.
    MODULE 3
  • EVIDENCE OF LEARNING

As we redefine and expand the curriculum, the evidence of student learning is also being redefined. There are more ways for students to be engaged in showing how they learn and how much they have learned. We engage students in showing evidence of learning; this, in turn, expands the way students can prove they have learned. Limiting evidence of learning to tests and test scores is problematic today. In this session, Dr. Davies’ will describe this change and its implications for student learning, self-regulation and metacognition.
    MODULE 4
  • USING ASSESSMENT TO SERVE LEARNING

When teachers use the Seven Actions of Assessment for Learning to support student learning, the nature of learning and the role students have in supporting their learning change. The 7 Actions of Assessment for Learning are decisive in increasing students’ capacity to reduce their learning and test anxiety by engaging in self-regulation and metacognition. In this session, Dr. Davies will provide an overview of the seven actions of Assessment for Learning, highlighting how metacognition is supported.
